Power Ward

Hola!
This week we have just been getting to know better the area, the members, and everything to do with missinonary work.  I feel like we are getting to know everything pretty well, the area, how to get around.. But things are going well! We were able to find a few more people to teach this past week, and had the opportunity to go to the ward council meeting on Sunday!  Let's just say that this ward knows how to work, and has a very strong Bishop at it's head.

We also had interviews last week (again.. because this zone still hadn't had interviews), but that also went great!  The only sad part was that it was my last interview with Pte. Camarillo, as he and his wife will be leaving in June.. But it went very well, with some great advice concerning how I can work.  And what really depends on me.  Because how the people will act, well that depends on them.  But if we do not talk with everyone, and invited people to read, pray, come to church, and all of that, than we are not doing our part.

Not much else to say... but everything is very good here. :)  Have a great week!

Love you!

Las Juntas!‏

Hola!
haha forgot to mention, I am now in the Tlaquepaque Stake in Las Juntas!  haha it is in Guadalajara, but a little on the edge... from what I know.

This past week has really just been getting to know the area.  It's a lot bigger than my other areas, but has a lot of potential.  The members are ready to work, and already as we have gotten to know them, they want to help in the missionary work.  YAY!

This past week we went to find a recent convert as of a few months, becuase the other misioneries hadn't visited her in a while.. so we stopped by and she was very nice.  We shared a short message with her and she had felt like she was getting a little away from God.. but wanted to go to church.  And it turns out that on Sunday she came!  And her mom also came who isn't a member, but has listened to the missionaries before.  She even offered to go and clean the temple with the members. We have a meeting with them on wednesday.

My new comp is great, has a huge desire to serve, and I just love her.

Not much more to say... let's just say this area is my dream area. :)

Love you all! Have a great week!

changes.... yikes!‏

Hey everyone!!

Haha wow, I am going to be real quick... so I had transfers!  Not much of a surpirse, but I was actually very sad to leave Lazaro Cardenas.. but I finally made it to Guadalajara!  Woohoo!  It is already a lot cooler here than Lazaro, and I am very grateful I made it just in time before it got really hot.

But we had some amazing miracles this past week!

So basically we have always been working with a less active familiy Hna. V. and Hna. E.  and their family.  On tuesday we went to visit them and as we were leaving the mom said, 'Thanks for not forgetting about us.  It seems that we are blessed, because even though we have been inactive for such a long time, the missionaries always seem to find us.  Thank you so much.'  It gave me such a good feeling.  And then we visited them again on Saturday to remind them to go to church, and it turned out that yesterday THEY CAME!!!!!! The first time in about 4 years.  Then later after church our bishop told us- 'Thank you both for the work you are doing.  Hna. V. hasn't been to church in forever, and I know it is because of the work that you have done that they could come to church today.'  And said that we are 'potent missioneraries'. :)  Then before the day ended we went to say goodbye to them, because I was leaving, and they are excited to get activated back in the church, by reading the book of mormon daily... and i am super happy for them.

Other note, the family all went to church today!!! (the first time the whole family went together, to a normal day of church), and they loved it all.  Then after church when I told them I might be leaving they all started crying... :(  I really feel so blessed to have been there to find them and begin their teaching.  Maybe I will not be there for when they get baptized, BUT I for sure will be there in a year when they go to the temple. :)

So I am very sad to leave my Palmitas, I feel very blessed to have met everyone there.. and I definitely cried when I left....

In other news.... I am now opening an area in Guadalajara, and am training... we left yesterday night at 1 in the morning... and had training today, but my comp is great, and I just hope I don't mess up... :)  Her name is Hermana Lopez, and is from Oaxaca!  I will send a pic next week when there is more peace.. and I have more time.

But I am excited to be in a new area, and to be in fresh area for the first time in 6 months...

I hope you all have a great week!!! Love you!

Otro Año Ha Pasado... (Another year has passed..)‏

ONE YEAR DOWN!!!
Wow.  That was fast, and I can't believe that I only have 6 months left.  But...

This week was great! I don't really know where to begin..
quick update on the family M.T.  We used up the vacations and visited them every day this past week, and they are all doing great!  The whole family went to conference for the Saturday Afternoon session, and then watched a baptism of the STL's, and loved it all.  Then in the night we went to visit them, but 15 minutes before we got there the dad had left super angry.  And his family was worried he was going to go drink again.. so we taught a quick lesson, and then when we got back to our house, they called us, and everything was fine, he didn't drink!  :) And all are staying strong with the Word of Wisdom even though the dad has had a problem drinking, and the while family has been drinking coffee, when we invited them to stop, they all accepted!  And yesterday we went to visit them again, and the dad told us that in the morning as he was out walking one of his friends passed by and offered him a ride.  So he got in, and his friend went and bought alcohol, and offered him some, but he said 'No, Thanks.'  and his friend was just like .. 'whaat?? Since when?'  And then offered him a cigarette and he said no again!  WOOHOO!!! But then the mom said 'oops!!! I had a cup of coffee...' and all of the kids- 'mom!'  Her response, 'I'm going to go pray and ask God for forgiveness, and I won't do it again.'  Wow. :)  I love them!
Another quick story was when we taught them about 'God is our Heavenly Father' we sang 'I am a Child of God' and after we asked them what did they like most, and the oldest said 'Soy un hijo de Dios.  Porque es cierto.'  or.. I am a child of God, and that is very true.  I know that we are all children of God, and that has a very significant meaning.  He is our Father, and He loves us more than we can even imagine.

One last quick story.. We have been teaching a youth as of a few weeks ago, but haven't been quite sure if we should keep going, because her parents aren't married, and don't want to get married.  But every time we go I feel a peace.  We went this past week and she (hna. S.) told us that she prayed and received an answer, that this is true.  Something we hadn't even excepted.. and then yesterday the whole family was going to go!  (and a few of the members haven't been very receptive), so we planned that we were going to pass by at 1:30, but then we didn't know that yesterday was the change of hours.. (horario.. haha), and we didnt have any credit in our cell phone, so we passed by an hour late, and they had all changed and then didn't want to come.  But Hna. S. came with her friend.  But we will be working more with them.

Then, another miracle-  on saturday we met a young woman Hna. L. at the morning session of Gen. Conf., and she was very nice, and than later the elders told us she lived in our area!  She also came yesterday to another session of conference.  Anyway, she is so prepared to hear the Gospel, she has had a few trials as we all have, but has 2 little girls, and is amazing.

Conference was also so good!  Unfortunately for the 2 morning sessions the internet was a little slow so we didn't get to listen to everything, but what we did listen to was amazing!  And I will just read the other talks later.. :)

Well, I continue to learn, study, and grow in the Gospel, and am looking forward to dedicating myself these last 6 months.

love you all!

Gracias a que El Vive!‏ - Because He Lives

Hola everyone!

So this week went well... We had been planning on having a baptism, but it fell through. :/  But, the elders in my ward still had a baptism, and that went super well!
We also got to watch the women's session of General Conference and that went well as well, I got to watch it in another room in English, yay!

Today we were able to have our district activity which is always fun!  A little soccer, and we always cook.  Carne asada, cubitos, salsas, agua de jamaica.. the usual.

Haha this email will be really short... I don't have much to say, BUT I am doing very well.  These past few weeks we have been dropping a lot of investigators, but that just gives us more time to find those who are prepared to listen to our message, and are going to progress in the church.  Our new family we found is doing well, they have their own trials right now, but all of the kids went to church yesterday, and are progressing very well.

One quick experience, we went with a less active family to share a lesson, and we didn't know exactly what we were going to teach.  The dad just left them, and the mom had been looking for a solution but hadn't quite found an answer.  So we decided to say a prayer, and ask God specifically for an answer, and we opened up the Book of Mormon in a random page and was exactly what the mom needed to hear.

This past week started an initiative that is called 'Gracias a que El Vive', and talks all about the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.  I don't know what the page is in english.. but in Spanish it is ElVive.mormon.org  and even though the video is only 1.5 minutes, it is amazing.

I know that Jesus lives, and because HE LIVES, we all can find the solutions to our problems.  We can be happy here on the earth, and even though we all pass through trials, problems, and hardships, the fact that He lives, means that we all will live again.  But even better than that, if we are obediente to His commandments while here on the earth, after this life we will live in His presence, with our families forever.

Everyone, go watch General Conference this week!  I am very excited as well, and know that you will receive the answers that you need to whatever problem you have.

Love you all!

YAY!!!

Hey everyone!
Ok, so this week wasn't too eventful... Well... yes and no.
My comp and I almost completed a our goal for total lessons, but we finished with a few great new people to teach!
Last Sunday as it was raining super hard, before we went home we went to find a family to teach, so we went and had a quick lesson with this new family M.T. and then we kept in contact with them every day, and then yesterday the four kids came to church!!  We had a lot of plans to get investigators to church, so we tried to call basically every member to see if they could give our investigators a ride, but NO ONE could!  Their car was broken, or they were going to be at another ward, and everything was just falling through.  BUT, whe we were at the main road to meet the kids M.T. a member from Guacamayas stopped by because she knows my comp (because she is from her old ward), and gave us a ride!  IT was perfect!  The whole family couldn't come because of some family problems that they are having,. but after church when we went to visit them, we had a great lesson, and they all accepted to be baptized, and the kids loved church.  I love them so much!!!

We also found a reference, the daughter of an old investigator, and the first lesson was perfect!  She was definately a Chosen, (just like her mom), but unfortunately, right now isn't her time to be baptized.  She can't go to church because of school she takes on Sundays, BUT she has a break on April 5, and she said she would come, and then in July when she is out of school, she can be baptized.  So even though I will not be here, I hope that she will get baptized.

Not much else to say... but this past friday..ish, when my comp and I got home after our day of work, we noticed we got super sunburned!  haha so no pics this week... just kidding, this comp just doesn't work, but that was kind of fun.

We also had a zone conference with our mission president this past week, that also went very well!  We talked a lot about how we can help our investigators receieve their answers through prayer, and how we can get them to church!  So my comp and I are going to be working a lot with what we learned...

That's about it!  haha have a great week everyone!

Hola familia!‏

Hey everyone!
Hmmm.. so this letter will be short...
Basically, we are still working hard to find new people to teach, and at the end of the day on Sunday we were able to complete with a lot of our goals, and we found a family to teach!! :)  They are a family of 6, and in the first lesson we had yesterday they accepted to go to church the next sunday, and we gave them a few pamphlets to the kids and they were already reading them and... I am just very excited to work with them. :)
We were able to see a few other miracles as well!  We were able to really show love for one of our investigators on Tuesday because he needed to be at his baptismal interview, but he didn't answer his phone, and it was  about 20 minutes until his interview, and we had to be at another part of our area that is pretty far away, but anyways we went to make sure he got to the interview, and he did it!! :)  So we are going to see when he can be baptized.
We were also able to do a lot of service which felt great! We taught a lady how to make churros, we helped paint a house, and a few other things.. But it was fun.

We also got to go on divisiones with the STL's!  I got to go to Lazaro Cardenas, with Hermana Johnston, and it was super fun!  We ended up walking the entire area, but we were diligent. :)  And had a pretty weird experience with a lady..

I am doing well, and I hope everyone else is as well.  These past 3 days have been very different from being super hot, it's been raining!!! But it has been great, and I hope it stays cool for a while.

Have a great week everyone!

Love,
Hermana Zimmerman
